Art & Wellness

Meet Palido. He’s a twenty-something-year-old mini donkey whom I met last summer in Asheville, South Carolina, the day I broke my foot.

It took three long months for my foot to heal, and throughout that period, painting Palido felt like a true love story. Each morning, instead of dreading the day, I found it exciting to bring Palido to life on my canvas by filling his burly mane with shining gold and yellow brushstrokes.

Artist with heart

Many of my canvas watercolor florals are inspired by my daughter, Jaclyn Suchomel, a gifted floral designer and owner of The Dainty Daisy. Caught on canvas, it is a beautiful moment of joy: her kissing her fiancé, Scott, at the Old Bully Tavern in Beaufort, S.C.
